                         Chap 6:Starting off with a bang

After saying my goodbyes, I got in my car and drove back home. Rather than get my "shooting license" like Cole said, I decided to back to job as a resident. I enjoy my job, but I really deserve more days off, but that seems a little selfish.
To be honest, I kind of missed the Chief barking orders in my ear. It was a long drive, and I was back home in about 3 hours. I unpacked my stuff, put the dirty clothes I had worn during my stay at Cole's place.
in the washing machine, and slept for a bit. Suddenly, the phone went off and I reached over to grab it. "Hello?" I asked. "Is this Tornado Skyler?" said the voice. He sounded familiar, but I was a little unsure

"Yes, this is him." I replied. "Good, this is Shawn Davison, and Dr. Jack needs you to come to the hospital." he said. "Wait, you mean I'm on call? My vacation isn't over until tomorrow!" I said frustratedly
"Look, it was his decision, not mine." He said sternly. "Ughh..fine, I'll be there in a couple of minutes." I sighed "Thank you." he said and hung up.

I locked my door, got in my car, and drove off to the hospital. I went inside, greeted some familiar faces, changed into my scrubs, and took the elevator to the on-call room. I met up with Dr. Jack, he told me what do to.
It felt like hours had passed as I was completing random tasks. Finally, I was given a break and decided to be in the lounge.Just then, my cell phone started going off, I looked at the caller id and it read Lynn. I answered the call. "Lynn?" I asked.

"Oh hey Tornado, is this a bad time?" she had asked. "No, it's perfectly fine, how are things?" I replied. "I'm doing well. Hey listen, you dropped like $20 here at the bar, you want me to keep holding it for you?" she asked. "Nah, you can keep it,
besides, I'm back home, and I probably won't be back for a while. But hey, if you want, when I go back, want to grab a cup of coffee or dinner?" I asked her. "Yeah, sure, that would be nice." she replied. We said our goodbyes and I hung up.

Dr. Jack was calling me from across the hall to tell me that my break was over. I was walking over, when my heart started racing, and I got a really grim feeling. "Dr. Jack! Wait!" Before he could say anything...the entire hospital was engulfed in an explosion.
I was thrown who knows how far, and hit a pole which sent a huge pain through my back. I watched weakly as the building burned, and everything went to black. When I came to, I woke up to an empty field...I can't believe what had just happened. Was it a dream, or real?

I tried getting up, and it killed me to just stand up, but I managed to stand. I looked for any sign of life. I didn't see anything, when I heard a mysterious voice saying "Guess someone didn't want you to shirk your duties" I turned around and I was shocked, the strange figure had no face.
"Who..are you?" I asked in surprise. "Now there son, I can't give away much information, but I will tell you this: You need to compete in those games." He replied. "But, what if I die in the middle of it? Then what?" I asked. "Giono de Palisimo needs to be stopped. You may not be the one who
in the end stops him, but you will play a key role. You have a hidden ability that you will discover along the way, as will many others." He said. "Wha-" "Believe me when I say discover, that's up to you, not me."

"Answer me this then, Who are you? And What are you? You're dressed in a way that has nothing to do with the mafia itself, why is magic involved in this?" I asked "Giono offered his identity as a different person in return for immortality, that way, he could become a dictator and take over the planet.
I'm just part of an old existing society created to keep order with things. Just giving you a fair chance. Go back to Cole, and get ready." He explained. This was really a lot to take in, then I had a final question. "Who created the explosion?" I asked. "The same man you're trying to stop."
He took a few steps back and faded away. Things were starting to shift from action movie blockbuster to sci-fi movie.

I took out my cell phone and made the call. "Cole, I'm ready for personal training." I said. "The hell took you so long to tell me this? Come over here when you can, I'll be ready."
*beep* I went to the parking lot, got in my car, and headed to Cole's house.

What is my power? And how will it help me in the long run?
